My Best Friend’s a Swinger - Will She Burn in Hell?

By Jennifer L. Hunt The Question I don’t know who to talk to about this b/c I am truly embarrassed for my friends. I JUST found out yesterday… actually the day before that, that my dear close friends (two different couples) have been “swinging”… it’s more like three of them I believe, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors. Both of these couples are young engaged couples with very bright futures ahead of them. I cherish my friendship with my handful of girlfriends, and think of them as precious people. When I heard this was going on, and that I was pretty much the only one who didn’t know about it… I was devastated, I was disgusted, and began to cry. This happens ONLY when they are drunk… but it has happened A LOT. My husband and I are newly married, and we all hang out and party together. I am so upset about all of this that I decided not to go to their co-ed bachlorette party in Vegas this wknd. I am still going to be in their wedding, but I feel in my heart that I can NOT be friends with either couple anymore. I don’t even want to support this marriage/union. I would feel so sick to my stomach… I really don’t have a REAL reason… it’s just not who I am, how I was raised, or where I come from. Is it wrong for me to “ditch” my close girlfriends b/c of this? The Answer Whew… This is a very emotional topic because your underlying beliefs are being questioned. On the bright side, these types of situations really help us grow. Our mission for this blog is to help everyone learn to come from a place of love and acceptance in all of their relationships. We do not judge you for your beliefs or actions nor do we believe that you should judge your friends for their beliefs or actions. We feel there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ (Yes, we know that many will disagree with us on this…). Each of us has our own ‘perception’ of what is right and what is wrong. That perception is different for everyone and will very likely change over the years. There are groups of people with similar perceptions and beliefs - i.e. the various major religious and political organizations. Swinging is simply another belief system… There are some very good relationship ideas that we can all take from the swinging lifestyle. Swingers believe that their partners have enough love to go around and that it’s OK to share one another sexually. They do not confuse love with lust as many couples do. They understand that it’s perfectly natural for their partner to be physically attracted, and maybe even want to have sex, with someone else. It does not in any way threaten their relationship or love for one another. That said, both partners in a swinging couple must have complete trust for one another and both must want this type of lifestyle or it simply won’t last. It’s definitely not a lifestyle for everyone… but it is a new adventure that can actually bring a couple much closer together. Talk to your friends, without judgment… Maybe there’s a reason that they didn’t tell you. Perhaps they were afraid that they would lose your friendship? If you believe that all relationships must be totally monogamous, that is perfectly OK. What we would suggest is that you be open minded enough with your friends to talk to them about their choice in a non-judgmental way. Not to fix the error of their ways, but to share your feelings with them and see how you can move forward and remain friends. Maybe it’s a don’t ask don’t tell kind of friendship - If we really knew what all of our friends and neighbors do behind closed doors, we probably wouldn’t be able to look any of them in the eyes :-). Remember that you can’t change people, and trying to change them is a sure way to push them away. If you want to remain friends, you’ll need to love and accept them for who they are and where they are in their lives. While this is entirely your decision (we can’t make it for you…), do you really want to lose your friends because of their sexual preferences? Wait. How to Choose an Adoption Attorney

By Katie Gee No matter where you are in the adoption process, whether you have just started your Home Study or have already connected with a Birthparent, choosing an attorney to help you through the process is one of the most important choices you will have to make. I have worked in adoptions for over nine years and I want to stress to you that choosing an attorney that specializes in adoptions or has significant adoption experience is highly important. Although as an agency we do a lot of the legal work ourselves with our own attorney, we also conduct Home Studies for couples who are doing independent adoptions, meaning they are going through an attorney rather than an agency. Most of the mix-ups and botched adoptions we see are typically associated with attorneys that do not practice adoption law or who know very little about adoption law. When choosing an attorney to use in an independent adoption, I always recommend choosing one that is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (also known as AAAA or Quad A Attorneys). Adoption law is typically state specific except for a few federal laws, so you want an adoption attorney that is well versed in the adoption laws of your state. Things get even more complicated if Birthparents live in one state and the adoptive family lives in another. This is called an interstate adoption. Not only are you dealing with the laws in each state, but you are also dealing with the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, a Federal law that regulates children being placed for adoption in a different state than where they were born. The adoption disruptions that we see played out in the media typically happen because something was not done legally the way it was supposed to be done. For this reason it is imperative that you use an attorney that knows the adoption laws for your state. I teach monthly adoption seminars, which include a section on adoption law. During this session I always share the example of how both the lawyer and judge in a rural county in my state did not do things correctly, which ended in an adoption disruption. In this case the adoption was finalized in Juvenile Court, which cannot happen in my state as adoptions are finalized in Chancery or Fourth Circuit Court. But, even worse, the Birthmother never signed a Surrender to surrender her parental rights. You cannot finalize an adoption if one or both of the Birthparents still have parental rights to the child. Since her parental rights were still in place, when she went to the court five years later the adoption was overturned and her daughter was returned to her. The purpose of sharing this story is not to scare prospective adoptive parents. I share it to educate them and to reinforce the importance of using an attorney who just practices adoption law or one who has done adoptions in their practice for at least five years. By doing adoptions for five years I don’t mean two or three adoptions over the past five years. I mean someone who does them on a regular basis. Even if you know a lawyer who is a good friend or one who is doing the adoption just to help you, if they do not know adoption law they could end up hurting the adoption in the end. Even if there is not a AAAA Attorney in your area, you should contact the AAAA Attorney that practices closest to you. They might travel to you or they could recommend someone in your area that knows adoption law. For instance, the AAAA Attorney that my agency uses along with most other agencies and adoptive families in the area has a list of attorneys that she contacts for adoptions in counties that are about two hours or more from her. If she is not busy, she will travel, but because she has such a good reputation she usually stays busy and she often refers families who live further away to other attorneys. She also will tell you which attorney to not use if she knows an attorney who has repeatedly done adoptions not according to the law, which is important information for adoptive families to have. If you are beginning to search for an attorney to help with your adoption, the first thing you should do is to see if there is a AAAA Attorney in your area. You should always check their credentials and talk to families who have used them. It is also good to talk with other adoptive parents to see which attorneys they used and to find out if they had positive or negative experiences. The way an attorney handles or mishandles an adoption can literally make or break it. This is not a chance that you want to take when it comes to your family. You need to choose an attorney that will follow adoption law correctly and one that will make sure that the needs of everyone involved in the adoption process are met. Red Roses

By Damian Sofsian Red roses signify love and beauty the world over. Poets write about them, writers write prose about them, and people express love by giving each other red roses. Though many people believe that red roses can only be a symbol of romantic love, there are almost as many who strongly feel that red roses can be given to any loved one. They could be given to a sibling, a parent, a friend, a family who has just moved into the neighborhood and needs to be welcomed with affection, and of course, a lover. A bride can carry them on her wedding day or by a soul mate on Valentine’s Day. Sometimes, people find it difficult to choose between a red rose, a red rose bouquet, long stem red roses and dark red roses. They wonder about what can be called ‘rose etiquette’. These are unwritten ‘rose norms’ that traditionalists like to follow. According to these, single roses are meant to express liking, rather than love, bouquets speak volumes about love, long stem roses are for those who have a marked style and exude elegance, and dark red roses express the language of passion and longing. Many people also wonder why the magic of the red rose surpasses those of other flowers, if at all it does. They wonder why several people who set out to buy other flowers end up buying red roses. The answer lies in the universal appeal of the red rose that stands out because of its remarkable beauty and character even in a crowd of lovely lilies, merry carnations, cute tulips, pretty orchids and attractive roses of all colors other than red. The red rose is enchanting, mesmerizing and enigmatic. It is no surprise, therefore, that no matter where it is placed, and in what kind of vase it is decorated, it announces its presence with panache. It is virtually impossible to miss a red rose in an office, a mall, a home, and a hotel, in the hands of a bride or pinned to the lapel of a statesman. If a lady crossed a busy street with even a single rose in her hand on Valentine’s Day, heads turn to notice. In fact, the timeless symbolism of the red rose is the reason behind its presence on greeting cards for all kinds of occasions. The red rose brings people closer and takes the expression of liking, love, elegance and passion to a level that transcends language. Red Roses provides detailed information about red roses, red rose bouquets, long stem red roses, red rose petals and more. Red Roses is the sister site of Send Easter Flowers. By Patrick Belcher Located just 65 kilometres north of Cairns International Airport, Port Douglas is popular with both Australian and International visitors as a destination to get married. The only place in the world where two natural, world-heritage-listed sites the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest exist side by side, what a perfect place for a wedding. The breathtaking natural beauty of Port Douglas affords the happy couple many options for the wedding ceremony, be it traditional or the more unconventional. For a traditional wedding in Port Douglas you can not go past the fully restored and historical St Marys by the sea. A non denominational church makes St Marys in Port Douglas ideal for the conduct of weddings of any faith. St Mary’s by the Sea is centrally located in the township of Port Douglas and offers one of the most stunning venues for church weddings in The Douglas Shire. The church has a huge glass altar window which enjoys breathtaking views of the Coral Sea and rainforest clad mountains, this window is often left open to make the most of the spectacular surrounds. The stained glass windows, traditional wooden pews and church bell which will be ringing on your wedding day all add to the charm of St Marys by the sea. Approximately, 400 wedding ceremonies are held at St Marys church in Port Douglas each year. The Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas also has a wedding chapel called The Crystal Chapel on the Beach. The chapel deliberately designed to offer a complete view of the beach and its surrounds. The walls are glass panels ensuring you a have a 360 degree view of the tropical environs on your wedding day in Port Douglas. For the alternative wedding ceremony in Port Douglas, the options are numerous. The most obvious being the beach wedding. The long stretch of silky sand that is the famous Four Mile Beach is a truly tropical location for your Port Douglas Wedding. The Douglas Shire council does not charge as long as the wedding ceremony is not longer than approx 1 hour. A simple yet elegant choice without getting sand between your toes yet still overlooking the stunning Coral Sea is to get married at Rex Smeal Park. The park is also centrally located in the heart of Port Douglas and the local council also looks after the permit for hire, be it for the ceremony and or reception. Business Legal Forms

By Jason Gluckman Business legal forms cover a wide range of requirements. They are used in a number of business activities like partnership agreements or confidentiality agreements to name just a few. If you are thinking of setting up a partnership for your business you will need to have something on paper, in writing, for the partnership to be recognized before you begin trading. This acts as a safeguard against a lot of disagreements that could occur in the longer term. In the same way if you wish to share any kind of confidential information with either a potential business partner or even your employees, it is a wise decision to get them to sign a confidentiality agreement before you go ahead with divulging the information. This is yet another legal business form that you will need to use. Today you will find a number of sites on the web that provide you sample forms or templates that you could use to get started with your business legal forms. A large number of inventors have filed patents on their own successfully. In order to obtain a patent, you will need to ensure that your invention does indeed qualify for a patent, and apart from that you will also need to give a full description of your invention. For this also you will need to use a business legal form. Whether it be mergers or acquisitions or copyright protections any of such business related activities will need the use of a business legal form. The good thing is that today the use of the Internet can make some of the most arduous legal tasks easier than you could imagine. Legal Forms provides detailed information on legal forms, business legal forms, divorce legal forms, free legal forms and more. Legal Forms is affiliated with Legal Contracts. How to Roll New Business Your Way with Promotional Merchandise

By Andrei Smith According to Wikipedia, the free internet encyclopedia: “A promotional item is merchandise given away free of charge to the public in an effort to promote a business or increase interest in, or sales of, a product. These items are also referred to by the slang terms schwag and tchotchke. (The latter is derived from a Yiddish word meaning “trinket”.) Promotional items are also used in politics to promote candidates and causes. Examples of promotional items include logo-branded t-shirts, caps, keychains, bumper stickers , pens, mints, etc. Collection of certain types of promotional items is a popular hobby.” Promotional items have the power to be understood universally. According to the Promotional Products Association International, corporations spend close to $17.5 billion a year on this type of advertising - that’s more than one-third of what’s spent on TV. A survey conducted for Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) by LJ Market Research reveals the power of promotional products by measuring how end users respond to organizations that use promotional products as part of their marketing mix. The survey, Promotional Products - Impact, Exposure and Influence: A Survey of Business Travelers at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport , was conducted by interviewing business travelers at DFW Airport. More than 71 percent of travelers indicated they had received at least one promotional product in the last 12 months. The study also showed that respondents’ ability to recall the name of an advertiser on a promotional product they had received (76 percent) was much better than their ability to recall the name of an advertiser from a print publication they had read in the past week (53.5 percent). Recipients of promotional products do remember the advertiser’s name. Business to business gifts are a good way to maintain a positive presence within your client base. They can build brand awareness within the professional community as well as amongst the general public. The next time you launch a new product or service, try introducing it with an imprinted business item. When gifting to clients within your industry, it is particularly important to choose a promotional item that relates to your field. For example, if your new service will save the public time and effort, introduce it with a customized clock or calendar. By introducing a new product or service to clients with a clever business gift, you maintain a strong industry awareness of your company. It is also important to choose a quality method on the imprinted business items. Stick to laser engraved pens, debossed leather and vinyl items, and embroidered wearables. Break away from the promotional item pack. People tend to copy each other and assume that if most people do things a certain way, its the way to follow. Dont follow, be a leader instead. People love pens, but the truth is, everyone of us has at least a dozen promotional pens right now with different company names and logos inscribed on them, and if yours is one of them, the next person most likely couldn’t find it to call you if she searched all day and night. But if she had, say, a branded clock or a branded calculator on her desk, with your name and address on it, well, that she could definitely put her eyes and hands on - which means she would be able to call you. Bottom line, don’t be afraid to do something different. Do a quick research, see what’s trendy, look for novelties. If your budget permits, get something people will not throw away, like a USB flash pen, a promotional MP3 player, an imprinted watch, etc. Try to deliver your promotional products in different, creative ways. For instance, instead of mailing 1,000 mouse pads with your company logo on them, have 300 or so hand delivered. Hand delivering promo items will earn you enough business so that you can afford to hand deliver the next 300 and so on. Let the professionals handle it. Hire someone specialized to advise you and develop your promotions and promotional ideas for you. Let a design company create your promotion and print it for you. Yes, you’ll spend a little more money upfront, but you’ll have a promotion where all the pieces and parts work together to get your message and call to action across to your customers - which means your customers will be more likely to call you instead of the other guy. Remember that there is more to an effective promotion than handing out one item. There are pieces and parts to it. It takes a consumer an average of six to seven times of seeing and/or hearing your promotional message before they get it and take action of any kind - even saying “no thank you”. No, it’s not because your target audience is dumb, it is because they’re constantly being bombarded with marketing promotions from all sorts of businesses. Know your target audience. If your promotion is for teens and young adults, for example, don’t give them refrigerator magnets-they don’t usually have refrigerators! At least not of their own yet. Give them a cool key chain or CD holder, give them something electronic, something trendy and colorful. If your target audience is leaders of corporate America, don’t give them lottery scratchers or highlighter keychains, don’t even give them a calculator, since they have accountants dealing with their numbers. Give them instead a nice writing set for their desks, give them some nice executive accessory that you know they will not be ashamed to display on their mahogany desks. And if you are really on a budget, a nice luggage tag, a passport holder with your company name, logo and address, or even a promotional golf ball will do. No matter how wonderful and unique a promotional item is, if it’s given to the wrong target audience that has no use for it, they will have no use for you. — Andrei co-owns Bsleek - a company that specializes in web design, hosting, promotional items, printing, tradeshow displays, logos, CD presentations, SEO and more. Correct Your Smile With Cosmetic Dental Veneers

By David Maillie We all want a perfect smile and know that it can definitely help land that big sale or contract or even get that pay raise or new job. But, except for a very few, most of us are not born with perfect or even anywhere near close to perfect teeth. Most of us have some crooked teeth, a little discoloration, a chip or two, maybe a gap or even a missing tooth. Basically, 90% or more of us could really use a complete dental makeover and it is so expensive and so outrageous a concept that it really never crosses our mind as it is disregarded as an impossibility. That is now changing as dental porcelain veneers are quickly becoming cheaper and a great, quick alternative with massive life altering results. It used to be that for people with crooked and bad teeth they either had to have extensive dental surgery, braces and orthodontics (which will not help as much in adults as it does in youth), or resort to going through life without smiling or hiding their teeth and having a much lower self esteem. Dental surgery, braces and orthodontics are quite expensive and much of it is not covered under insurance plans. For less money, one can now have thin porcelain veneers applied to their teeth and this can instantly correct misaligned and crooked teeth. It can also whiten the frontal 16 to 20 teeth (what is usually treated) and make them look like a stars mouth with a perfect or near perfect smile. Basically what a dentist or oral surgeon will do for cosmetic porcelain veneers is they will first do a thorough and deep cleaning of your teeth. After this they will use a grinding or abrasion tool and effectively remove about 1 to 2 mm of surface area on your teeth which are to receive the veneers (the back teeth will not usually be veneered as no one can see them when you talk or smile). After this, and not before, they will make impressions of your teeth. There are several different methods and kits by different manufacturers used to do this but the results are the same. These impressions will be used to make the veneers. The reason for the grinding down of the surface of the teeth is to provide a better bonding surface and to provide room for correction of crooked or misaligned teeth. The dentist or oral surgeon does not make the actual veneers. They are outsourced to medical companies that specifically specialize in dental veneers. It is quite interesting to note that the porcelain dental veneers are actually quite fragile until installed and properly bonded or cemented to the teeth. Then they are very strong and are pretty much as strong or even stronger than your original teeth. It is far less often that a dental veneer gets broken or chipped than as with real teeth. So, once you have them installed you can pretty much enjoy your new smile and look without a whole lot of worries. Perfect Pedicures and Magnificent Manicures : A “How To”

By Danna Schneider How to Get Salon Quality Manicures and Pedicures Summer time is once again upon us. Gone are the thick socks and stifling shoes, and in are the feet-baring sandals that adorn your shoe closet. You know what that means ladies. Pedicure Time! Oh, and while we’re talking about pedicures, most of these pointers also apply to manicures. Shopping List for Success : 1.) Cuticle Stick 2.) Cuticle Oil or Conditioner 3.) Fast Drying Base Coat 4.) Fast Drying Top Coat 5.) Buffer 6.) Large Emory Board The first thing you need to do is to make sure you start off with clean nails. Clean nails will help the nail polish to bond better with the nail, and help ensure a lasting finish. If you have any nails that are obviously longer than all of the others, then I suggest you use a small pair of nail scissors, not clippers, to give them a trim before anything else is done. The reason I don’t suggest using clippers, at least on your hands, is that they tend to make fragile nails split, because they do not “bend” with the nail when it is cut off, which stresses the rest of the nail and can cause splitting and breaking down the line. Once the nails have all been evened out with a pair of nail scissors, the filing begins. Begin with an emory board style nail file, not metal. It is easier to use the larger emory boards rather than the small, because it covers more surface area and tends to be more easily manipulated. Gently file the rough edges of the nails, angling it only slightly around the outer edges, for a somewhat “squared off” look. You don’t want the nails too rounded, since nails typically grow better and faster when they are kept in a squared shape, but you can use your judgement as to your shape preference. Next, using a rubber tipped cuticle stick, gently shape the cuticles. Some people have barely any cuticle at all, and can skip this step. Others may have thicker, more noticeable cuticles and they are the ones that need to focus on grooming them more. One you’ve shaped and gently pushed back your cuticles, dab a drop of conditioning cuticle oil and rub in. Use a makeup brush and dust off any dust leftover from filing. You may even want to go wash your hands so that none of the nail dust or the cuticle conditioner interferes with the application of the polish. The next step is crucial to the longevity of your manicure and pedicure, since it forms a base which provides optimal adherence of your polish to your nail surface. Use a nail buffer, or the buffing side of your nail file, and lightly buff the surface of your nails, just enough so that you do not see as much luster on the surface as you usually would. Now, take your preferred sheer or clear base coat polish and slick a light layer of it on. Wait a full minute and half at least, and then you may begin to apply your nail color of choice. This next step is also very important to the longevity of your manicure or pedicure, as it seals you polish in a hard armor which is very tough to chip. Using the top coat of your choice, slick one to two layers of the top coat on and allow to completely dry. And that’s it, you’re done! Trust me, if you follow all of these steps your manicures and pedicures will last forever! Well, maybe not forever, but you get the picture. Build A Garden Pond In Your Garden

By Amanda Bregman Planing building a garden pond? Don’t know how to start? What kind of material to use? Here is a simple and fast guide that can provide you all the answers, so you can start right away. Decide the type of garden pond construction Depending on the purpose, you should decide how deep and how big your garden pond would be. This is a critical decision to make since you cannot simply change the size and depth of your garden pond the moment it is finished. To determine the size, shape, and depth of your pond consider the number and the kind of marine life and aquatic plant you will put in. You may want to read specific articles that instruct you the right size of pond for a particular fish. Select your location. Garden pond can improve the beauty of your garden and at the same time, can attract different birds and butterflies. To enjoy these two, you should select a location close to your home. It is important that the garden pond must be placed away from direction of rainwater run-off. Keep your pond away from trees. Mark the area of the garden pond Once you have decided what type of pond to construct and where to place it, now is the perfect time to get your tools ready and start heading to the location. First, mark the area of the garden pond with either a rope or a hose. Do not restrict yourself with the design. You can freely change the shape of your garden pond if necessary. Start Digging! Do not start at the center of the pond. Instead, start at one side and make progress from there. According to your design, you should make slopes. The rule: whatever the shape of your pond is, make sure that the perimeter has the same shallow depth (1 foot). Call for help if you must. Prepare the surface Before laying down the garden pond liner, make sure that the surface is smooth to prevent future damage. Remove any sharp object that you can see. To further ensure that the liner will not be damaged, create an underlay. It could be sand, bubble wrap, newspapers, old blankets, old carpet, or any material strong enough to protect your garden pond layer. Lay the garden pond liner It is easy to lay the garden pond liner if someone is helping you just make sure that the liner is properly tucked and carefully laid. There are commercially available garden pond liners but you can always improvise to make the cost low. You can use an old water-bed liner, cheap shower curtain, and your old swimming pool liner. Build a Garden Pond Waterfall If you want to accentuate or add an ambiance to your garden pond, you can place garden pond pump. This is also beneficial to marine life and water plants. Hide your water pump with rocks. Fill the pond with water While filling the pond with water, pull the edges of the lining making sure that the lining is neatly contoured. Keep the lining pulled until the pond is filled. Put all the aesthetics Add pebbles, rocks, and everything you got to make your pond look beautiful.
